Al Jazeera: Millions in Somalia face starvation

The UN says that nearly a quarter of Somali’s population is on the brink of starvation. The crisis is partly due to environmental reasons such as drought, though cuts to funding are worsening an already dire situation. Ummkaltum Dubow, CARE’s Country Director in Somalia, spoke to Al Jazeera on how children and families are struggling to cope under such distressing conditions. She warned of massive displacement to neighboring countries as a result of this protracted and increasingly severe crisis also fueled by drought.
